Carlo Mollino digital event
In spring 2020 ZANOTTA has presented new updated versions of Carlo Mollino masterpieces through an exclusive digital event. A story in which architecture becomes the focus point of a performance between design and musical concepts nourishing you with beauty, culture, and "above all, imagination".
Born in Turin in 1905, Mollino received his degree in architecture in 1931, and proceeded to teach the subject from 1952 to 1970 at the Polytechnic in Turin. Throughout, his career arc remained eclectic and diverse, including projects in architecture, interior design, furniture design and urban planning. Mollino designed both important public facilities and private houses. For the latter, he created an imaginative series of furnishings, exploring various typologies and organic shapes with an artisanal treatment on natural materials that highlighted his passion for the mountains.
Mollino was also at the forefront of photography as an art form. It became a driving passion for him and remained an important part of his work throughout his lifetime. He brought the same depth of research and curiosity to everything he did, including acrobatic flying, downhill skiing and car racing. He wrote important essays about these topics, merging his experience and new technologies into his work as a designer. He passed away suddenly in 1973, but his work lives on.
Since 1981 Zanotta has continued to share the dynamism and versatility of his talent, and in so doing, honouring his rightful place as one of the most distinct and multidisciplinary personalities in modern architecture.
After careful research Zanotta is ready to present you with the updates to the Carlo Mollino masterpieces. We invite you to an exclusive digital event, where innovation and history meet and dialogue with the spaces of the Teatro Regio in Turin.
